Large Estates
There has never been a greater period of uncertainty in planning for large estates because of the 2001 Tax Reduction Act. While the rates are falling and drop to zero in 2010, they will revert to pre-2002 levels in 2011 unless Congress extends the act. Fortunately, there are means to prepare for an ever changing landscape and this office can help.
Small Estates
People who want to choose a guardian for children, make specific bequests to individuals or organizations, or simply want their assets distributed differently than the state permits still need estate planning. While estate taxes may not be a big concern in the smaller estate, Medicaid planning may be. Even in the case of a small estate it still pays to be well advised!
Special Circumstances
By appointment we can provide both home and hospital visits by the attorney and staff. Our office will consider a limited number of Pro Bono or reduced rate cases for the purpose of assisting families where there is a need for a guardianship and limited resources. Members of the Military or Reserves facing an imminent deployment to a war zone may qualify for reduced rates on estate planning services subject to the availability of staff and the attorney.
